·       With the recent tax reform, NFIB was the only organization that stood up and got the 20% deduction for S Corps down to the sole proprietor. (CPAs call line 9 on the tax form, the NFIB line!). It will expire in a few years without continued support of members like you. Again, thanks (and your business neighbors also thank you).

·         Secondly, NIFB was able to eliminate the personal property tax on machinery, tools, and patterns for all non-manufacturing businesses. That was another $74 million in tax savings for thousands of small businesses right here in Wisconsin. And when any business wins, all business wins because we all hold hands in the economy.

·         We’re working on other major issues right now such as HR2513, Minimum Wage Hike and Predictive Scheduling to name only a few. We need your support this year more than ever. Become a member, and vote the ballots; let your voice be heard in Madison and D.C. Choose what issues you want more information on and we’ll get it to you. Become as involved in our grassroots efforts as little or as much as you want.

First of all, let me say this. I've always loved small business and having been in business myself for many years, I believe that there is nothing better. I encourage everyone to have some sort of business regardless if it only part time of a full fledged company employing many people.  I'm a membership rep for NFIB and am pleased to visit many business owners on a daily basis. To me NFIB membership is essential for any business person to learn about the issues, take as little time as he or she wants to invest in voting on them and then go about their business with the peace of mind that NFIB is working on their behalf. NFIB membership dues is whatever the business owners feel they can afford (up to $15K). It's more important to have a member than a dues which would hinder membership by very small businesses. UI Taxes to go up in Wisconsin

UI Benefits Expanded – Eligibility Relaxed – UI Taxes Go Up Governor Evers budget includes provisions that would allow employees terminated for “substantial fault” be eligible for UI benefits, and also his budget would eliminate current law that requires UI recipients accept offers of suitable work to remain eligible for unemployment insurance benefits. The Governor wants to eliminate the concept of “substantial” as a disqualifying factor for benefits, and define suitable work and work search requirements by administrative rule based on the number of weeks a claimant has been receiving benefits. The Governor’s budget would expand the number of absences a terminated employee may have before absenteeism is considered excessive and still qualify for UI benefits. The Governor is proposing to repeal the current requirement that the Department of Workforce Development establishes a drug testing program for eligibility to receive UI benefits.  Also, he recommends eliminatin
