NFIB is the voice of small business, advocating on behalf of America’s small and independent business owners, both in Washington, D.C., and in all 50 state capitals. NFIB is nonprofit, nonpartisan, and member-driven. Since our founding in 1943, NFIB has been exclusively dedicated to small and independent businesses, and remains so today.

WE ADVOCATE

 When a big issue affects small and independent businesses, NFIB is there. We have been for 75 years, and we will continue to be. We represent our members’ interests—our one member, one vote balloting process guides our work.

NFIB has an ear to the ground on what’s happening in Washington, D.C., and the state capitals. That puts NFIB at the forefront of advocating on today’s most pressing small business issues, such as taxes, healthcare, and regulations.

WE INFLUENCE

 When NFIB speaks, legislators listen. They know that we bring them the voice of small business.

That voice, hundreds of thousands strong, comes directly from NFIB’s members and our research—combined, they make a powerful and influential case for our advocacy.

Because of NFIB’s credibility, we are asked to bring the small business perspective to Congress, state capitals, the courts, and the media.

First of all, let me say this. I've always loved small business and having been in business myself for many years, I believe that there is nothing better. I encourage everyone to have some sort of business regardless if it only part time of a full fledged company employing many people.  I'm a membership rep for NFIB and am pleased to visit many business owners on a daily basis. To me NFIB membership is essential for any business person to learn about the issues, take as little time as he or she wants to invest in voting on them and then go about their business with the peace of mind that NFIB is working on their behalf. NFIB membership dues is whatever the business owners feel they can afford (up to $15K). It's more important to have a member than a dues which would hinder membership by very small businesses. UI Taxes to go up in Wisconsin

UI Benefits Expanded – Eligibility Relaxed – UI Taxes Go Up Governor Evers budget includes provisions that would allow employees terminated for “substantial fault” be eligible for UI benefits, and also his budget would eliminate current law that requires UI recipients accept offers of suitable work to remain eligible for unemployment insurance benefits. The Governor wants to eliminate the concept of “substantial” as a disqualifying factor for benefits, and define suitable work and work search requirements by administrative rule based on the number of weeks a claimant has been receiving benefits. The Governor’s budget would expand the number of absences a terminated employee may have before absenteeism is considered excessive and still qualify for UI benefits.
