Independent Truckers get a Voice at state capitals and in Washington D.C.

As a membership rep for NFIB I visit and speak with many concerned truckers, owner operators and others in the transportation industry. There are many harmful issues affecting the trucking industry but you can have a voice, and be heard. The following is an exerpt from NFIB.com. If you would like more details, please visit there or you can contact me using the contact form on this page.

As the voice of small business, NFIB works to affect positive change on behalf of our members. Below is a list of recent victories by our Legal Center, Political, and Government Relations teams.

NFIB’s Policy Victories (for Truckers and related industries):

Are you a trucker and interested in NFIB membership? Membership is based on what you feel
you can afford. Contact me and let's discuss what size of "dog" you want in the "fight".

Put the Brakes on Burdensome Regulations
·         Secured permanent relief of a troubling provision in DOT’s Hours of Service rule that would have required two consecutive periods of between 1-5 a.m. in order to use the 34-hour restart. The restart is now back to a straight 34-hour period, without exception.
·         DOT withdrew its rulemaking to increase the minimum levels of coverage for motor carriers like freight trucks and buses. The rulemaking would have increased their minimum coverage requirements up to 500 percent, potentially $4 million. Currently, the minimum coverage for most trucks is $750,000.

Challenges
America’s small business owners are busy running their businesses. As the nation’s leading small business advocacy organization, NFIB is busy working hard in the effort to overcome the challenges you and hundreds of thousands of small business owners face on tax reform, ever-expanding government regulation, and healthcare. Below are a list of challenges from our Legal Center and Federal Public Policy teams.

Kill Burdensome Regulation (IRS, EPA, DOT, DOL, NLRB & OSHA)
·         Opposing troubling DOT mandates on trucking, such as electronic logging devices, speed limiters, and increased insurance requirements.
